We’ve all heard the phrase, “Real estate investing is a team sport.” It is very seldom you discover a real estate entrepreneur working solo on building his/her business and/or portfolio. Most real estate entrepreneurs concede to the fact that one is limited to their own time and their own strengths and weaknesses. It goes without saying that strong partnerships can hedge against these constraints and really help to accelerate your success.

Our special guests on today’s episode are Chris Pomerleau and Collin Schwartz, Co-Founders of Park Ave Capital. Recognizing each other’s skillsets, their partnership developed into the ‘right mix’ and thus propelled them to build a portfolio of over 900 units under management.

Chris is Co-Founder and Director of Investment Strategy for Park Ave Capital, LLC, attorney, and mentor. He oversees the acquisitions of assets and business development activities. He also directs the overall investment strategies of the company.

Collin is Co-Founder and Director of Operations for Park Ave Capital, LLC and owner of Bricktown Management. He directs the day-to-day operations of investments.

In this episode, we cover:

How Chris and Collin developed their partnership.

What impact did their partnership have on the development of their portfolio.

Why Collin founded Bricktown Management and what are the benefits of self-managing his assets.

What are some of the innovations Chris and Collin have developed to improve their operations.

What have been some of the biggest challenges they have experienced as they have scaled their portfolio.

Tune in to hear Chris and Collin address these important topics and much more!

The Final Four:

1.     What do you like to do for your continued education to further your investing?

Chris “I listen to a lot of podcasts and YouTube because I feel like I’m getting a better grab bag of a variety of information. I also do a lot of LinkedIn; following people there, reading what they’re doing, and reaching out to them.”

Collin “I joined a national coaching program that basically puts together 12-16 individuals that are CEOs, business owners, etc. none like-kind business together and they bring in speakers, and we have to see each other more than directors. We bring up issues and they see these issues or possibilities and they can act as my board of directors when I have a tough decision and I don’t have anybody to go to.”

2.     Who has been the biggest inspiration for your success?

Collin “For me, it’s my wife and kids. Knowing that I have these responsibilities is what keeps me going in dark times since being an entrepreneur is not easy.”

Chris “I would say my wife and kids and family too-motivates me to find better paths."

3.     What advice would you give to the listeners to help them grow their businesses?

Chris “Get a coach if possible, in more than one area if you can. There’s something about somebody who can teach you how to do it, speed up the process in which you learn it, learning from their mistakes, and getting it done."

Collin “Start your day with education and some type of physical exercise to get your mind so clear that you can still focus on your goals and do everything else."
