Matthew Bates grew up in Arizona and has always had a passion for connecting with people. At the age of 18 Matt joined the Army National Guard and was deployed to Iraq shortly thereafter for a year. He also served on a religious mission for his church for 2 years in Russia, learned to speak the language, and aimed to serve everyone while he was there. Upon completing his religious mission, Matt obtained his bachelor's degree in Computer Science and started a very successful career as a software engineer. After rising up the corporate ladder, Matt uncovered a truth that was hard to accept – he was not okay with the 9-5 scene. He had done well in it, earning well over 6 figures and advancing rapidly to a senior level engineer, but he was not fulfilled and did not believe in trading time for money. Five years ago, Matt began to explore real estate and stumbled upon multifamily real estate investing – eventually starting Hedgehog Investments with his business partner. Though Hedgehog investment, Matt has been able to create what he wanted for himself and has also been able to provide a vehicle to others to help them get what they wanted out of life. Matt firmly believes that a rising tide lifts all boats and that is what they aim to do at his company – Hedgehog Investments helps build wealth and raise the tide for all of their clients.
