Multifamily Podcast Network

Have you ever been told to identify your particular niche and become an expert at it before diversifying? You have probably heard this from various experienced real estate entrepreneurs at some point in your career. Many would agree with this thesis as it’s easy to fall into the trap of the “shiny object syndrome” when you are not committed to a particular niche. However, for those who disagree with this thesis, having multiple strategies and asset types in your portfolio make you a well versed, sophisticated investor with less downside risk.

Our special guest on today’s episode is Krishan “Kay Kay” Singh, Founder and CEO of Grow Rich Capital. With over 30 years of business experience, Kay Kay has a built a diversified portfolio comprised of agriculture, gas stations, laundromats, single family rentals, and multifamily assets both foreign and domestically. Kay Kay believes that a diversified portfolio can allow an investor to pivot when needed and protect his/herself against shifts in a particular asset class.

Krishan is a Microsoft Certified System Engineer turned successful entrepreneur and multi-business owner owning multiple gas stations and convenience stores, a laundromat, and single family rentals in Northeast Indian. He is both a GP and LP investor in 2764 units across various markets in the US as well as agricultural, commercial, and residential assests in India. 1.     What do you like to do for your continued education to further your investing?

Kay Kay: “I listen to a podcast every day. Whenever I’m at the gym, I’m listening to a podcast. Sometimes even two a day. The second thing I do is 30 minutes of reading every day. And I write a journal every day.I try to be at least 1% better than yesterday. Before I go to bed, I ask myself ‘what did I do to improve myself today?’”

2.     Who has been the biggest inspiration for your success?

Kay Kay: “To be honest, Rod Khleif has inspired me a lot. The very first boot camp he did, I went to.”

3.     What advice would you give to the listeners to help them grow their businesses?

Kay Kay: “I would suggest, rather than advise, that anything you do, just invest in yourself before you invest in any real estate or any business. Just learn what you’re going to do before you just jump in.”
