Multifamily Podcast Network

I enjoyed recording this episode with Zach Feldman, who has experience in various different asset classes, deal sizes, and deal structures. He describes his role as a VP of Development at Aptitude Development (one of the largest student housing development in the country) as his “day” job and buying small-midsized multifamily in numerous markets throughout the northeast as his “night” job.

In this episode, we talk about the importance of focus, how investors can find where they can actually compete, and why partnering with other investors (who have complementary skillsets) is so important. Zach is in the unique position of seeing how both institutional and smaller investors approach the business – we learn how he applies the skills he’s developing in his “day” job to more successfully invest personally. We also discuss how it’s important to develop a familiarity with private equity deal structure even if you’re doing smaller deals, this episode is packed with information!
